Effects of PMI5011 and bitter melon on hepatic gene and protein expression in high-fat-fed female mice: Both PMI5011 and bitter melon increased mRNA abundance of Pgc1a, but not other markers of lipid metabolism (a). Markers of de novo lipogenesis are not upregulated while Cd36 and a marker of gluconeogenesis (Pck1) are upregulated (b). PMI5011 (c) and bitter melon (d) do not regulate the levels of proteins involved in lipid metabolism or insulin signaling.
