Call for Papers

Sex Differences in Obesity, Insulin Resistance, Metabolic Syndrome and the Microbiome

The Editors of Biology of Sex Differences extend an invitation to submit original research articles related to  Sex Differences in Obesity, Insulin Resistance, Metabolic Syndrome and the Microbiome:

New data show that there are sex differences in the mechanisms responsible for insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome and obesity.  Furthermore, sex differences are also present in the gut microbiome which is important in maintaining levels of estrogens and androgens. The cardiometabolic consequences of sex differences in these tissues impact the development and prognosis for cardiovascular disease in men and women.

All manuscripts accepted from this Call for Papers will be included in a unique online article collection, further highlighting this important topic. The article collection may also include specially commissioned Review articles related to the topic.

Manuscripts will undergo normal peer review as they are received. Accepted manuscripts will be published online as they are accepted. Articles published from this Call for Papers will be highlighted with a special Call for Papers subject banner, as well as included in the Sex Differences in Obesity, Insulin Resistance, Metabolic Syndrome and  the Microbiome online article collection at time of publication.

Manuscripts can be submitted anytime, but to be eligible for inclusion in this Call for Papers, manuscripts must be submitted by June 20, 2019. Please indicate at submission that you are submitting this to the Sex Differences in Obesity, Insulin Resistance, Metabolic Syndrome and the Microbiome series.
