Female mice have enhanced glutamatergic transmission in the mPFC compared to male mice. Whole-cell recordings demonstrate females have heightened sEPSC amplitude (A; n = 9–14/group) and a rightward shift in the cumulative probability distribution (B) compared to males. Females also exhibit heightened sEPSC frequency (C; n = 9–14/group) and a leftward shift in the cumulative probability distribution of inter-event intervals (D) compared to males.
