Verification of endocrine system development and function genes. Using a separate experiment from the one used for the microarray, gene changes in Figure 3 were verified by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction between coxsackievirus B3 infected males (V-M) and infected females (V-F). Verified genes included: (A) Cyp2e1; (B) the macrophage scavenger receptor (Msr1); (C) the androgen receptor (AR); and (D) translocator protein 18 kDa (TSPO).
